This ring recently leapt out at me and refused to be ignored. I bought it knowing it was a challenge to work out, but also that I really liked it. As a wise person described it to me, it looks like steampunk meets Victorian! It is certainly a substantial piece that has been carefully designed to be enjoyed from all angles. The hallmarks are very difficult to read, but with help from some more experienced friends we have established that it is very likely Italian and 14ct gold. At the centre of this design with crosses and flowers surrounding and supporting, is a round colourless spinel of 5mm diameter. Spinels in the past have been used in place of diamonds and it is easy to see why in this piece. The overall size is 12mm and is 8mm in height. The shank has been resized at some point.
The weight is 4.48g.
