I rarely pass by a centurion as I am always drawn to them, especially those created from hematite. There is something extra about the metallic sheen of this stone that I find captivating. Maybe it is due to its reputed power as a healing stone and to absorb negative energy, thus calming stress or worry. Perhaps this is why they are eternally popular as gifts for loved ones, certainly they are one of the most bought items in the shop. The intaglio design is unisex and this middle range size can work for a lady or a gent as a pinky ring. This particular example has a 9mm by 7mm oval hematite, with the overall setting 12mm at the widest point. The shank bears the makers mark of CL&S for Charles Lyster and Son alongside a hallmark for 9ct gold, having been assayed in Edinburgh.
